Hearing loss could be defined as a major public health issue that has affected most common physical condition after arthritis and heart disease. It is a fact that gradual hearing loss can affect people of all ages and it could vary from mild to severe conditions. It is a sudden process wherein you lose the natural hearing capacity which you had from several years. This hearing loss could be mild, severe, temporary or permanent in nature.

We cannot see hearing loss but only its effects. The hearing loss is not visible and these effects may be attributed to aloofness, confusion or personality changes. In adults hearing loss is a common problem due to ageing and loud noise. The loss due to noise may happen over a period of time. Cochlear implant surgery in India or Cochlear implantation has become a routine procedure across the whole world for the management of severe-to-profound hearing loss. The decisive step to go for cochlear implantation is generally made by the patient or by the parents who are the caretaker. The procedure is of one to one and half hour and is well tolerated and routinely performed on an outpatient basis in both adults and children.

The cochlear implant is a regular phenomenon in mainly individuals who have hearing problems. It is one of the most demanding procedures after arthritis and heart related disease.
